Our Mission: Build Healthy Communities
NoGasHere.org strives to educate communities about the harm of gas stations near children. As a non-profit, we aim to support communities in their efforts to protect themselves, children, and other vulnerable residents from the toxic exposures associated with fueling centers.
Petaluma has banned the construction of new gas stations
However, this does not apply to the Safeway Gas Station Project as it is already approved and currently in litigation. We are thrilled that in Petaluma, no future gas stations will be built next to sensitive receptors.
NoGasHere.Org is officially a non-profit!
NoGasHere.org is officially a 501 (c) (3)! This means our cause can have a greater reach. To do that, we still need to fund raise. Every donation makes a difference, and now yours can be tax deductible.

Oppose the Petaluma Safeway Gas Station
Safeway wants to put a 16 pump gas station across the street from a preschool, a day care, an elementary school, little league fields, and homes. The California Environmental Protection Agency Recommends 1000 feet apart. This is only 60 feet.
The project was approved without an Environmental Impact Report " to inform the public and public agency decision-makers of significant environmental effects of proposed projects, identify possible ways to minimize those effects, and describe reasonable alternatives to those projects".

"Save Petaluma" has filed a Petition for Writ of Mandate
A small group in the neighborhood has formed as Save Petaluma and filed a Petition for Writ of Mandate with the Superior Court of California, County of Sonoma. Like No Gas Here, Save Petaluma feels that the City Council was unduly forced to deny our appeal and that it is the City's responsibility to protect the citizens of Petaluma. We have committed to paying the court fees for this case and we will keep our commitment to do so.

Over the course of the last year we have built a strong case showing the toxic effects of a massive gas station placed ~50 feet from a preschool, and ~300 feet from an elementary school and children’s baseball field. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends that schools should not be located within 1000 feet of gas stations and other fuel dispensing facilities, citing potential hazards of air pollution, soil contamination, ground water contamination, vapor intrusion into structures, and heavy vehicular traffic.
